Sustainable Procurement Policy
We aim to work with companies that align to our values and meet our customers expectations for quality of goods without causing undue harm to the world around us. As such, our sustainable procurement policy is designed with that in mind. To request an official, updated copy, please fill in the form at the bottom of this page.
The core parts of our sustainable procurement policy are as follows:
Legal & Regulatory Compliance
Ensure all procurement activity complies with applicable UK legislation, including:
Modern Slavery Act 2015
Environmental Protection Act 1990 and Waste (England and Wales) Regulations 2011
Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
Environmental Sustainability
Prioritise suppliers who demonstrate commitment to:
Reducing carbon emissions and energy use.
Using recyclable, reusable, or responsibly sourced materials.
Minimising packaging and waste.
Consider the full lifecycle cost of goods (including energy, maintenance, and disposal).
Encourage local suppliers where feasible to reduce transport emissions and support the local economy.
Ethical & Social Responsibility
Avoid suppliers involved in bribery, corruption, or unfair labour practices.
Require suppliers to provide evidence of ethical labour standards (aligned with the ILO conventions).
Give preference to suppliers who encourage diversity and inclusion in their workforce.
Supplier Assessment & Monitoring
Use supplier questionnaires or self-certification to assess compliance with this policy for top tier suppliers.
Reserve the right to review supplier performance, including sustainability performance (energy use, waste management, ethical sourcing).
Reserve the right to audit suppliers where risks are identified.
Continuous Improvement
Provide training to purchasing staff on sustainable procurement.
Review procurement practices annually to align with best practice and updated regulations.
Work collaboratively with suppliers to improve sustainability across the supply chain.
